Lionel Richie hospitalized after St. Louis show in latest health scare

Lionel Richie sought medical tests after his weekend concert in St. Louis, adding to a series of health concerns during performances this year.

During Saturday’s show at The Muny, video appeared to show Richie leaning on a piano for support. Fans said the 77-year-old singer later asked for a chair before performing his final number, “All Night Long.” TMZ reported that he checked himself into a local hospital after the concert, potentially because of slight dehydration.

Richie had another onstage episode in June, when he sat down during a performance of “Dancing on the Ceiling” in Minnesota and cited dizziness. He ended that show early and postponed performances in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. At a July concert at Madison Square Garden, he joked about needing electrolytes between songs.

The singer is touring with Earth, Wind & Fire on the 26-city “Sing A Song All Night Long” tour. Richie rose to fame with the Commodores before launching a solo career that produced hits including “Hello,” “My Love” and “Say You, Say Me.” He has won four Grammys and has served as a judge on “American Idol” since 2018.
