Lions top Stampeders 30-26 for third straight win

The B.C. Lions secured their third straight victory Thursday, outlasting the Calgary Stampeders 30-26. Quarterback Nathan Rourke was instrumental in the win, scoring a touchdown himself and throwing two more to Keon Hatcher Sr. Zander Horvath also contributed significantly with his team-leading eighth rushing touchdown of the season.

Despite a strong performance from kicker Sean Whyte, who made a 45-yard field goal, the Stampeders faced significant setbacks. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. was injured early in the fourth quarter after a hard tackle, and did not return to the game. The team's leading rusher, Dedrick Mills, also left the game in the final quarter, further depleting Calgary's offensive capabilities.

Rourke, playing in his second game back from injury, completed 15 of 22 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns. His performance helped the Lions overcome a halftime deficit. Calgary had led 18-13 at the half, aided by Jude McAtamney's field goals. However, a crucial touchdown run by Horvath in the third quarter gave the Lions a lead they would not relinquish.

The Stampeders, who have now lost five games by four points or less this season, saw backup quarterback Josh Love step in for Adams. Love managed the offense but ultimately threw an interception in the final minute, sealing the Lions' victory. The game was played in light rain with a temperature of 11 C at McMahon Stadium.
