Lipowitz Wins Tour of Slovenia with Solo Exhibition

Florian Lipowitz has claimed the overall victory at the Tour of Slovenia, showcasing his strength with a decisive solo effort in the fifth and final stage. The German rider for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe attacked decisively with just 9.5 kilometers left in the 169.4 km stage from Litija to Novo Mesto.

The crucial move came near the summit of the Trska Gora climb, a challenging ascent measuring 1.6 km with an average gradient of 10% and a steep section reaching 19%. This attack allowed Lipowitz to break away and begin his individual time trial towards the finish line in Novo Mesto. He crossed the line in 4 hours, 3 minutes, and 15 seconds, averaging 42.4 km/h.

Lipowitz's dominant performance saw him finish 25 seconds ahead of his teammate Laurence Pithie from New Zealand and Alessandro Fancellu of MBH Bank. The German's victory in the final stage not only secured him the general classification but also served as a strong statement of his current form and potential. This win adds to his consistent season, which includes second-place finishes in the Itzulia and Tour de Romandía, and a third in the Volta a Catalunya.

With five career victories now to his name, Lipowitz is emerging as a significant force.
