Lisbon has officially been crowned the most colorful city globally, according to a study by Irish travel insurance company JustCover. The research, which analyzed millions of colors in photographs, highlighted Lisbon's vibrant pastel buildings, decorative tiles in historic districts like Alfama, and iconic yellow trams as key contributors to its colorfulness.

This recognition underscores the growing importance of visual appeal and aesthetics in travel choices, especially in the age of social media. The study's methodology involved using a color identification tool on representative daily photos of various locations, aiming to capture their genuine visual essence without heavy filters.

Portugal's presence on the list is further solidified by Porto's third-place ranking, celebrated for its terracotta roofs and colorful houses along the Douro River. Cartagena, Colombia, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, also feature prominently, with Rio's famous Selarón Steps being a particular highlight. The study provides a unique lens through which to view urban landscapes, emphasizing the visual richness that attracts travelers and content creators alike.
