Literary Content Creator Renee Wallace Named JLS Reading Ambassador

Renee Wallace, a literary content creator and book-focused social media personality, has been appointed the Jamaica Library Service’s new Reading Ambassador.

She’s a reading advocate and a ‘bookstagrammer’. Her ability and demonstrated impact already, in terms of promoting reading and having events and getting people involved, is something that we’re excited about nationalising.

The announcement came at the JLS 2026 National Reading Competition Awards Ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston. Jamaica Library Board chair Nicole McLaren Campbell said Wallace had already shown a strong ability to promote reading, organize events and involve the public.

The JLS will fund and support the five national champions from the 2026 reading competition as they develop programmes in their schools and communities. Wallace will mentor and guide them as the initiatives expand to different communities.

We were able to touch six parishes… that’s six different libraries across Jamaica… and we’ve impacted over 300 students and counting, because the work will continue beyond this.

Wallace succeeds Brithney Clarke, Miss Jamaica Festival Queen 2025. Clarke described her year as exciting and impactful, saying the programme reached six parishes and six libraries and involved more than 300 students. She encouraged people to keep reading, explore the worlds in books, speak up for what they believe in and lead with purpose.
