Lithuania registers 2,300 electric vehicles in August, up sharply from last year

Lithuania registered about 2,300 light electric vehicles in August, a sharp increase from the same month last year, according to the Lithuanian Energy Agency.

The country registered 2,200 electric passenger cars during the month. Of those, 989 were fully electric vehicles and about 1,200 were plug-in hybrids. The figure was 57.6% higher than a year earlier, when about 1,400 such vehicles were registered.

Lithuania also added 57 electric light commercial vehicles in August, 12 more than during the same month last year.

As of Sept. 1, the national road-transport register contained 59,200 electric passenger cars. Fully electric vehicles accounted for 29,900 of them, while plug-in hybrids accounted for 29,300. The register also listed 1,200 electric light commercial vehicles, including 1,100 fully electric vehicles and 57 plug-in hybrids.

Electric vehicles represented 3.12% of Lithuania’s total passenger-car fleet. Fully electric vehicles alone accounted for 1.58%. Electric vehicles made up 1.42% of the country’s light commercial-vehicle fleet.
