Lithuania reports three days without illegal migrant crossings from Belarus

Lithuania has reported a three-day period without any registered crossings of illegal migrants at its border with Belarus. This marks a significant lull in the ongoing migration situation that has affected the region.

In parallel, neighboring countries are also managing migrant flows. Latvia's border service turned away 140 migrants on Wednesday, while Polish officials stated they had not detected any such individuals on Tuesday. These figures reflect the broader challenges faced by Eastern European Union nations.

Lithuanian authorities have been actively preventing illegal entries from Belarus. Last year, over 1,600 individuals were stopped from crossing into Lithuania in unauthorized areas. This year, the number stands at 957. Cumulatively, since the migration crisis, which began in 2021 and was attributed by Western nations to the Minsk regime, Lithuania has denied entry to approximately 25,500 illegal migrants.
