Lithuania seeks alternatives to Belarusian fertilizers amid EU sanctions

Lithuania is actively searching for alternatives to Belarusian fertilizers after the European Union extended sanctions against Belarus in February. Agriculture Minister Kęstutis Mažeika stated that the country is exploring options to secure fertilizer supplies and maintain stable prices for local farmers.

Discussions are underway with Uzbekistan to potentially source fertilizers from the Central Asian nation. Simultaneously, Lithuania is evaluating the possibility of boosting its domestic fertilizer production capacity. This dual approach aims to reduce reliance on Belarusian imports and ensure a consistent and affordable supply for the agricultural sector.
