Lithuania to Fund 21 Students' Studies at Top Global Universities

Lithuania is set to fund the university studies abroad of 21 exceptional students who have gained admission to the world's leading higher education institutions. The state will provide up to 61,000 euros annually for each student through the 'Kitas 100' competition. This initiative, now in its ninth iteration, aims to nurture talent and bring valuable expertise back to Lithuania.

Selected laureates have committed to returning to their home country to apply their knowledge, working in Lithuania for a minimum of three years post-graduation. Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius expressed pride in the students' ambition and the state's ability to support their academic pursuits, emphasizing that Lithuania eagerly awaits their return to contribute to national development.

I am delighted by your drive and maximalism, which have led you to the best universities in the world, and also by the fact that the state could contribute by awarding these scholarships. You have incredibly valuable and interesting years of study ahead of you, and Lithuania will eagerly await your return home. You will always be able to realize your dreams and goals here on the strong foundation of the education you will gain.

Education, Science, and Sport Minister Raminta Popovienė highlighted the competition's success in attracting ambitious young individuals who will also serve as ambassadors for Lithuania abroad. She expressed particular pride in their commitment to return and bolster crucial fields such as education, engineering, and mathematics within the country. The funded students will pursue degrees in diverse areas including computer science, political science, law, philosophy, illustration, and music performance at institutions like Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford.
