Lithuania turns back 35 migrants at Belarus border

Lithuanian border guards turned back 35 irregular migrants at the country’s border with Belarus during the latest 24-hour period, the State Border Guard Service said.

Lithuania reported preventing 1,314 people from entering through unauthorized locations from Belarus this year. The figure compares with 1,652 people turned back last year.

Since the migration crisis on the European Union’s eastern borders began in 2021, Lithuanian authorities have reported refusing entry to 25,928 irregular migrants. Latvian border guards separately said they had stopped 40 foreigners from entering Latvia, while Polish officials reported no new cases.
