Lithuanian Embassy in Kyiv Damaged by Russian Missile Attack; Officials Condemn 'Boundless Terrorism'

Russian missile attacks struck Kyiv on Saturday, damaging the Lithuanian embassy and injuring civilians. Fortunately, no staff at the embassy were harmed in the assault.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda condemned the strikes, noting that Russia's "terrorism knows no bounds." He highlighted that Ukraine's defense efforts protect not only its people but also European security. Nausėda urged allies to bolster support for Ukraine, specifically requesting more modern air defense systems to save lives and protect the skies.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba echoed the condemnation, stating that "terrorism can only be stopped with force and adequate defense capabilities." He expressed solidarity with Lithuania, offering any necessary assistance and thanking Lithuanian allies for their courage and support during difficult times. The attack caused significant damage, including broken windows and damaged solar panels on the embassy building, with debris scattered in the courtyard. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Earlier reports indicated that the large-scale Russian missile attack on Kyiv killed nine people and injured at least 23, with fires and damage reported across five districts of the capital.
