Lithuanian firefighters return after battling wildfires in France

A team of Lithuanian firefighters, operating under the name 'Perkūnas,' has successfully concluded a 13-day international mission in France, where they bravely fought wildfires.

The firefighters worked tirelessly to combat forest fires and safeguard residential areas from the encroaching flames. They operated under demanding conditions, including intense heat and difficult terrain, demonstrating remarkable resilience and professionalism.

During their deployment, the Lithuanian team collaborated closely with rescue personnel from other European nations. They found that their working principles were largely aligned with those of their international counterparts, highlighting a shared approach to firefighting.

The 'Perkūnas' team comprised 40 officers, including 32 firefighters and rescuers, and was supported by nine specialized vehicles, five of which were fire engines. The mission, undertaken voluntarily by the Lithuanian firefighters, was one of several ground teams providing assistance, with aerial support playing a significant role.
