Lithuanian Government Approves Reorganization of Neringa Health Center

The Lithuanian government has given the green light to reorganize the Neringa Primary Health Care Center (PSPC), a move intended to enhance healthcare services for the coastal municipality's residents. The cabinet's decision includes the state taking over the ownership rights and obligations currently held by the Neringa municipality, with the Ministry of Health designated to implement these changes.

Following the reorganization, the Neringa PSPC's functions and responsibilities will transition to Klaipėda University Hospital (KUL). This integration is expected to streamline the provision of primary outpatient services, potentially shortening the patient pathway to secondary and tertiary level diagnostics and specialist consultations.

Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys noted that the reform aims to ensure better accessibility and quality of all levels of healthcare for Neringa's inhabitants. The establishment of a family medicine clinic is anticipated to facilitate smoother primary care delivery.

Furthermore, the reorganized center could become an academic hub. Plans suggest it could serve as a practical training base for Klaipėda University's advanced practice nursing master's students and a clinical base for family medicine residents, thereby contributing to the development of future healthcare professionals.
