Lithuanian-heritage racing star crashes near White House

During the "Freedom 250 Grand Prix" held near the White House, D. Malukas, representing "Team Penske," lost control of his car on lap 36 and collided with the wall. The situation worsened when Sting Ray Robb emerged from the turn, unable to see Malukas's blocking car, and crashed into its side. Fortunately, neither driver sustained injuries.

Malukas started the race from sixth position. This season has been relatively successful for the 24-year-old, who is of Lithuanian heritage. He currently holds fourth place in the overall standings but is still seeking his first "IndyCar" victory. This is not his first accident this season; he was hospitalized a few weeks prior but was cleared to race.

D. Malukas is the son of Lithuanian emigrants. His parents, Henry and Daiva Malukas, left Lithuania for the U.S. in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. They established a trucking company, "HMD Trucking Company," and later expanded into motorsports, creating the team "HMD Motorsports," which competes in "Indy NXT," the "IndyCar" junior series. D. Malukas began his racing career within this team, developing a passion for speed.
