Lithuanian Man Swims in Road Puddle for Social Media Stunt

A 20-year-old man in Alytus, Lithuania, has become an unlikely social media star after filming himself swimming in a large puddle on a public road. Tadas Sušinskas used an inflatable ring to float in the water-filled excavation, which is part of ongoing road repairs and archaeological work.

I just drove through Alytus and saw that puddle. Somehow it occurred to me – I need to film it.

The spontaneous stunt, captured on video and shared on social media, quickly went viral, much to Sušinskas's surprise. He told AlytusPlius that the idea came to him while driving past the site and seeing the puddle. He did not expect the widespread reaction his video received, noting it became the most popular post on his Instagram account.

Sušinskas clarified that his swim was not a protest against the delayed road construction. Instead, he intended it as a humorous act to gain attention. He acknowledged the unusual nature of his stunt, performed on an active roadway, but stated he did not anticipate police involvement. "I thought maybe I would get the police's attention, but so far I haven't. Everyone understands that you need to joke around sometimes," he said.

There was nothing about road repair issues. I just wanted to get attention, do something funny.

The young man has since passed the challenge on to a friend. Outside of his social media antics, Sušinskas is active in other ventures, including constructing items in his workshop and operating a food truck at events.
