Lithuanian Opposition Leader Cites Conflicting Security Messages, Questions Official Inaction

Lithuania's security situation is a subject of diverging messages, according to opposition leader Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen. The leader of the Liberal Movement expressed concern over what she described as conflicting signals from responsible institutions regarding deteriorating security and increasing threats to the nation.

Čmilytė-Nielsen specifically questioned the inaction of Rimantas Sinkevičius, the chairman of the National Security Committee. She noted that Sinkevičius is also the father of Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius and found it particularly surprising that he had not convened an urgent committee meeting to address the perceived escalation of risks.
