Lithuanian reserve basketball team to face NCAA champions Michigan, Arizona

Lithuania's reserve basketball team is gearing up for a series of challenging friendly matches against top NCAA universities, including the Michigan Wolverines and Arizona Wildcats. Coach M. Lukošius has announced the squad, emphasizing his expectation for every player to bring "burning eyes" – a metaphor for intense motivation and dedication.

We have a training plan and are looking forward to Monday. We will train in Druskininkai the first week.

The team will begin their training camp in Druskininkai before moving to Kaunas. The schedule includes games in Jonava and Utena against the American college teams. These matches are not just exhibition games; they are crucial opportunities for the Lithuanian players, many of whom have already secured contracts for the upcoming season, to prove themselves on a larger stage.

Lukošius, drawing on his experience with US college basketball, anticipates aggressive defense, high pressure, and fast-paced offense from the NCAA teams. He noted that while American university teams visiting Europe might not always be at their absolute peak form, programs like Michigan and Arizona highly value their basketball reputation and will compete fiercely.
