Lithuanian shooter wins European Championship bronze and prestigious cup

Lithuanian shooter V. Grybė has earned a bronze medal and a prestigious cup at the European Championship, demonstrating exceptional skill under demanding conditions. Grybė, who leads the "VG Shooting Academy," noted the challenges posed not only by skilled competitors but also by extreme heat exceeding 36 degrees Celsius and complex target designs by renowned course creator Jamie Peckham.

We had to compete not only against very accurate opponents but also against the heat, which exceeded 36 degrees Celsius. And also the targets of one of the best shooting course designers, Jamie Peckham... I am happy with the results of our entire team.

The Lithuanian national team showcased high-level performance at the "Sologne Shooting Club" range, securing a shared 12th-13th place with the Belgian team. Key contributors included Simas Petraitis, who scored 189 out of 200 targets, and Aleksandr Derbin and Tomas Momkus, each hitting 184 targets. Akvilina Zabielienė also performed well, hitting 173 out of 200 targets and placing 31st among women.

Povilas Straševičius, the new president of the Lithuanian Sporting Federation, emphasized that the Lithuanian shooters' results on the international stage confirm the country's high level of athletic skill and global competitiveness. He noted the athletes' consistent participation in world and European championships, which strengthens Lithuania's position in international shooting sports.

These starts not only allow us to test our strength against the world's strongest athletes but also consistently strengthen the position of Lithuanian shooting sports in the international arena.

Currently, Lithuanian shooters are intensely preparing for the 22nd World "Compak Sporting" Championship in Italy from August 20-23. This preparation includes targeted training, participation in control competitions, and strengthening physical and psychological readiness. The federation anticipates successful representation and high results from their athletes, contributing to the development and international recognition of clay target shooting in Lithuania. Additionally, Lithuanian judge Ernestas Mackevičius successfully defended his international "Compak Sporting" judge category during the event.
