Lithuanian summer festival in Šventoji features fish soup feast and Viking ship races

The Lithuanian coastal town of Šventoji buzzed with activity last weekend as it hosted the traditional "Fisherman's Feast" as part of the "Let's Celebrate Summer!" initiative. The event drew a large crowd, eager to partake in the festivities and enjoy the local maritime culture.

A central highlight of the feast was a massive fish soup, prepared and served by local fishermen for all attendees. This communal meal underscored the strong connection between the town's identity and its fishing heritage. Alongside the culinary offerings, the festival featured thrilling Viking ship competitions, adding an element of historical reenactment and spirited rivalry.

Adding an adventurous twist to the weekend's events, participants also embarked on an extreme night kayaking trip. This nocturnal excursion offered a unique perspective of the coastline and the sea under the stars.
