Lithuanian Wakeboarding Community Honors Drowned Athlete Motiejus Lisauskas

The Lithuanian wakeboarding community gathered to honor the memory of Motiejus Lisauskas, a beloved figure who tragically drowned. The memorial event, held simultaneously across three parks – WakeWay, Vanduo Marse, and 313 Cable Park – aimed to celebrate his life and passion for board sports.

Participants observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to Lisauskas. Wakeboarders were invited to bring their boards for a communal paddle, while others were encouraged to attend and show their support. The event was marked by emotional moments, with many of Lisauskas's close friends shedding tears as they remembered his dedication to wakeboarding.

During the evening, a symbolic farewell took place. Lisauskas's mother released a wreath into the water in his memory, and close friends lit candles. Notable figures from the sports and entertainment scene, including Vaidas Baumila, Karolis Sankauskas, Lukas Gricius, Donatas Ivanauskas, and Kasparas Sipavičius, were present to honor his memory.

Lisauskas was a former professional athlete who later worked as a wakeboarding and snowboarding coach. He was also the founder of the "7AM Club," a sports community that brought together like-minded individuals for early morning training sessions. His passing has deeply affected his community and friends.

Details regarding the funeral arrangements were shared, with a farewell ceremony scheduled at the Vilnius Funeral Palace "Ritualas" on August 6 and 7. Instead of flowers, attendees were asked to bring a single candle. The news of his death came after a rescue attempt at the northern port, where lifeguards and firefighters worked to save him, but medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
