Lithuanian woman secretly boards a freight train in the Sahara for a journey few would dare attempt

Ugnė Rutkauskienė sees the world through routes that stretch from the Sahara Desert to the Arctic Circle. Better known online as @where.ugne.goes, she has now traveled through 73 countries.

Her interest lies in places mass tourism has not yet discovered. One of her journeys involved secretly boarding a freight train in the Sahara, an experience few people would choose to attempt.

But the path to becoming a traveler whose courage is discussed by thousands was not straightforward. Rutkauskienė’s story also includes difficult childhood experiences, a lack of self-confidence and a long effort to understand what she truly wanted.
