Lithuanians Draft 10,600 Wills in Six Months

In the first half of the year, residents of Lithuania drafted 10,600 wills, indicating a significant number of individuals planning their estates. Data from the Wills Register shows that women were more active in creating wills compared to men during this period.

The age group that most frequently made wills was between 70 and 80 years old. Those in the 60-70 age bracket also constituted a substantial portion of will-makers.

In addition to wills, the register received 19,739 documents related to the acceptance of inheritance and 2,291 documents concerning the renunciation of inheritance during the same six-month period.

The Wills Register is a state-maintained registry where these documents are stored. Information is only made available after the death of the person who made the will. This simplified version was prepared using artificial intelligence developed by scientists at Vytautas Magnus University in collaboration with the news agency ELTA, and has been verified by an editor.
