Live European Championships updates: Sarah Healy in 5,000m action

Irish athletes are making their mark across multiple European championships. In Paris, the European Aquatic Championships are underway, featuring strong performances from the Irish contingent.

Daniel Wiffen secured his spot in the men's 800m freestyle final, qualifying as the third fastest overall in the heats. Meanwhile, Mona McSharry comfortably advanced to the women's 100m breaststroke final, finishing second fastest in her semi-final. McSharry, an Olympic bronze medallist, is a strong contender in the event.

Ellie McCartney also competed in the women's 100m breaststroke heats but did not progress to the semi-finals. In other swimming events, Jack Kelly finished seventh in his first senior international final in the men's 100m breaststroke, and John Shortt earned a lane in the men's 200m backstroke final after placing fifth in the semi-finals.
