Thousands Welcome Home Cork Camogie Champions

Cork's Grand Parade was awash with color and sound as thousands of jubilant supporters turned out to welcome home the newly crowned All-Ireland Senior Camogie champions. The team, affectionately known as the Rebels, arrived back in Cork on an open-top bus, bringing with them the coveted O'Duffy Cup.

Their triumphant return followed a hard-fought victory over Galway yesterday at Croke Park. The final score saw Cork emerge victorious with a tally of 2-14 to Galway's 0-19, securing the championship title after a strong second-half performance. The players and management were met with the iconic "Rebel roar" as they took to the stage to display their hard-earned trophy.

The homecoming celebrations kicked off earlier in the evening, with local radio personalities providing entertainment. Finbarr McCarthy served as the master of ceremonies, officially welcoming the team to the stage amidst deafening cheers from the crowd. The O'Duffy Cup is scheduled to make a special visit to the club of Cork captain Meabh Cahalane, St Finbarr's in Togher, later in the evening.

Notable figures in attendance included Taoiseach Micheál Martin, the Lord Mayor of Cork Councillor Damian Boylan, and the Mayor of the County of Cork Councillor Bernard Moynihan, underscoring the significance of the team's achievement for the region. The team had previously visited Mallow before traveling by train to Cork's Kent Station.
