Liverpool legend Salah nearing Besiktas move in Turkey

Egyptian football icon Mohamed Salah is reportedly on the verge of joining Turkish club Besiktas, with negotiations having entered their final stages. The move would see the legendary Liverpool forward, who concluded his nine-season tenure at Anfield before the FIFA World Cup, transition to the 16-time Turkish Super Lig champions.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, cited by Goal.com, Besiktas has agreed upon all personal terms with Salah and his agent. The veteran player is expected to sign a season-long contract valued at up to 12 million euros. The deal also includes an option for an extension until the summer of 2028. Italian coach Vincenzo Italiano is credited with playing a significant role in convincing Salah to join the club's project.

The Besiktas board is currently finalizing the paperwork, with an official announcement anticipated in the coming days. Following his departure from Liverpool, Salah was pursued by several Saudi Arabian clubs. However, reports suggest that a move to Besiktas and Turkey was more likely, influenced by Salah's desire to remain within the European football landscape.

Salah played a crucial role in Egypt's qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026, helping them reach the round of 16 where they were defeated by Argentina. During the tournament, he scored one goal and provided two assists.
