Local Produce Adorned: Nantou Senior Exhibition Features Eye-Catching Grandparent-Grandchild Fashion Show

Nantou County celebrated Grandparents' Day with a vibrant senior learning achievement exhibition, highlighting intergenerational connections through a unique "Fashion Show of Happiness." The event, organized by the Nantou County Family Education Center, saw numerous grandparent-grandchild pairs walking the runway, creating a heartwarming spectacle.

This year's exhibition featured a special segment where participants donned outfits creatively designed with elements of local traditional weaving and agricultural products. This "Youth-Elder Co-creation" segment aimed to showcase the emotional bonds between generations and present a modern, dynamic image of seniors, thereby challenging age-related stereotypes and bringing younger and older generations closer.

Wang Shu-ling, Director of the Nantou County Education Department, emphasized the event's goal: to foster respect and gratitude for elders' contributions among younger generations. She expressed hope that such activities would help realize the ideals of filial piety and respect for the elderly, creating a harmonious living environment.

The exhibition, held at Yingbei Junior High School, also included dynamic performances such as sign language, drama, flower stick dancing, and musical instrument recitals by students from various township senior learning centers. Static displays of achievements, digital opportunity center experiences, and traffic safety promotions rounded out the event, making it a lively and engaging affair. Nantou County has been promoting senior learning for 19 years, aiming to ensure elders can "learn and utilize in their old age," making lifelong learning a source of vitality and demonstrating the thriving spirit of local lifelong education.
