Lockerbie bombing trial postponed days before start due to new evidence

The trial of Abu Agila Mohammad Kheir Al-Marimi, accused in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, has been postponed for a third time, just days before jury selection was set to commence. The delay stems from "newly discovered evidence" that emerged on Friday, August 21, according to lawyers representing Al-Marimi.

This latest development means a new trial date has been set for January of next year. Al-Marimi denies building the bomb that destroyed Pan Am Flight 103 on December 21, 1988, killing all 270 people on board and 11 on the ground in Lockerbie. His defense team stated that constitutional and ethical obligations require them to investigate this new evidence.
