Lombok Barat Regent Allegedly Used Rp2.25 Billion in Corruption Money to Buy Hospital Shares

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that the Regent of Lombok Barat, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, allegedly used Rp2.25 billion from corruption proceeds to purchase shares in RS SSM, a hospital in West Lombok. This revelation stems from an ongoing investigation that developed from a previous sting operation.

KPK's Director of Investigation, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that the regent and the Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda), Sudirman, jointly placed the funds into RS SSM, disguising the purchase as shares or "operational funds for the regent." Investigators have found evidence of meetings between the regent and hospital officials, though they have not yet concluded whether the hospital is controlled by the suspect.

The KPK previously arrested Lalu Ahmad Zaini and Sudirman on July 20, 2026, as part of its 17th sting operation of the year. They were named suspects for alleged conflicts of interest in procurement and alleged bribery within the Lombok Barat Regency government. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full network and methods used in the alleged corruption.
