Lombok Barat Regent Named Suspect in Three Corruption Cases

The Regent of Lombok Barat, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, faces serious corruption charges after being named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The KPK has accused Zaini of alleged bribery, gratification, and conflict of interest related to project procurement within the local government of West Nusa Tenggara.

Detention is carried out at the detention center of the KPK's Red and White Building.

The investigation began after Zaini was apprehended in a sting operation on Monday, July 20, 2026. The KPK has since detained the Regent for an initial 20-day period, from July 21 to August 9, 2026, at the KPK's Red and White Building detention center in Jakarta.

In addition to Zaini, the KPK has also identified two other individuals as suspects in the alleged bribery and gratification scheme. These individuals are Sudirman, the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang Lombok Barat, and Alvonsus Gani, the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument.

According to KPK's Acting Director of Investigation, Achmad Taufik Husein, the case originated from an order by Zaini to the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Housing Agency (PUPRPKP) of Lombok Barat, Lalu Ratnawi. This order allegedly aimed to assist Sudirman in securing project packages within the agency for the 2025-2026 fiscal years. Sudirman is suspected of using his company, CV Dyas Karya Konstruksi, as a front and even "borrowing the names" of other providers to obscure his involvement and the conflict of interest in winning these projects, which total Rp 17.9 billion.
