López Obrador's son denies fuel theft accusations, calls them political attacks

Andrés Manuel López Beltrán has vehemently denied allegations connecting him to illicit fuel activities, dismissing the claims as slanderous attacks orchestrated by the political opposition.

Speaking on the YouTube program "El Ganso Informativo" from Tabasco, López Beltrán, the son of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stated he has a clear conscience and is not involved in any criminal activity. He believes the accusations are a deliberate strategy to tarnish the reputation of his father and the political movement he leads.

"The problem is not with me. The problem is with Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the movement he leads. They want to tarnish that image; Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented himself as an honest option. Honestidad valiente, they want to tarnish that honesty," López Beltrán explained. He further asserted that the opposition seeks to undermine the principles of "austeridad republicana" (republican austerity) and weaken the core tenets of "lopezobradorismo."

López Beltrán, who is seeking a federal deputyship for the Morena party in Tabasco, argued that the issue of "huachicol" (fuel theft) originated with the previous administration's energy reforms, which allowed private companies to import gasoline. He contrasted this with his father's administration, which he claims limited such permits rather than expanding them.

"I am accused of fiscal huachicol, but there is not a single piece of evidence. It is clearly a big lie that I own a company dedicated to importing gasoline, as other actors do have relationships with companies dedicated to importing gasoline," he stated. López Beltrán suggested that attention is being diverted, and blame is being placed on him and his father, while the actual responsibility for such activities lies primarily with members of the opposition, not his party or family.
