Los Angeles Authorities Arrest Man Accused of Threatening to Kill Trump

Benjamin Azariah Southworth, a former radio host, was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of threatening President Donald Trump and cyberstalking Trump’s personal attorney and the attorney’s family.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said Southworth was arrested Thursday morning and was expected to appear in federal court in downtown Los Angeles for an arraignment. Prosecutors charged him with three offenses involving death threats against the president and cyberstalking.

According to the indictment, Southworth used YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and a website to publicly express hatred toward Trump and his supporters. Prosecutors also said he used those platforms to harass and abuse the president, incite violence against him and threaten him with violence.

If convicted, Southworth could face a maximum sentence of 12 years in federal prison. Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department would respond forcefully to what he described as increasing threats against Trump’s life.
