Love Story That Touched the Internet: They Married in a Hospital Room, 10 Days Later the Groom Lost His Battle

Robbie Fox and Kelli Peters, a couple who met at Elon University, shared a love story that culminated in a wedding ceremony held in a hospital room just ten days before Robbie's passing.

Robbie, 27, was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, in 2024 following a hip injury. He underwent intensive treatment at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, enduring approximately 40 radiation sessions, 14 chemotherapy cycles, and numerous blood transfusions.

In February 2025, the couple received hopeful news that Robbie's cancer was in remission. A month later, he proposed to Kelli, who had been a constant source of support throughout his illness. Their joy, however, was short-lived as the cancer returned nine months later with increased aggression.

As Robbie's pain intensified, the difficult decision was made to move him to hospice care. Kelli recounted Robbie's words, offering her the chance to leave if she wished, to which she responded with unwavering devotion, stating she would not leave him alone. It was Kelli who proposed the idea of marriage while sitting by his hospital bedside.

Robbie was overjoyed by the proposal. They married on April 15, exactly eight years after they first met. The ceremony took place in his hospital room, attended by family, friends, and a city official. Kelli shared an emotional video of the event on TikTok, which resonated with thousands. For her, the location and simplicity of the wedding were secondary to the significance of their commitment.
