LPG Tanker Attacked Near Strait of Hormuz; Indian Crew Safe

A liquefied natural gas (LPG) carrier sailing under the Mozambique flag was attacked on Thursday evening near Iran's Strait of Hormuz. The vessel, named Disha, was reportedly struck by an unidentified missile while en route to the Persian Gulf.

The Indian diplomatic mission confirmed the incident and stated that all 28 Indian sailors aboard are safe. They are in continuous communication with relevant authorities regarding the attack. It remains unclear if any crew members of other nationalities were on board.

According to the union representing the Indian sailors, the ship sustained damage. Earlier reports from Iran's Fars news agency, citing a well-informed source, alleged that U.S. forces attacked an LPG tanker in the Gulf of Oman, resulting in two crew fatalities. The Fars report suggested the tanker was targeted because U.S. forces believed it was carrying Iranian natural gas. The tanker reportedly suffered damage to its engine room. However, the U.S. has not officially confirmed these claims.
