LRT Jakarta Velodrome-Manggarai to Operate in August

The DKI Jakarta provincial government is set to launch the Velodrome-Manggarai section of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Jakarta Phase 1B in August 2026, aiming to significantly enhance public transportation connectivity across the capital. This new segment will extend the existing line, ultimately linking Pegangsaan Dua to Manggarai.

Pramono, speaking at the MRT Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta station, expressed optimism that the new LRT line will improve Jakarta's transportation network. The completed Phase 1B will encompass 11 stations and cover a total track length of 12.2 kilometers. Travel time from Pegangsaan Dua to Manggarai is projected to be a mere 28 minutes.

Hopefully, in August, transportation connectivity in Jakarta will be even better because LRT Jakarta will be inaugurated this month. The date will follow.

Following the inauguration of Phase 1B, the provincial government intends to immediately commence construction on the next phase, extending the LRT line from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. This further development aims to fully integrate the LRT system into Jakarta's central business district.

The project involves a substantial investment, with the Velodrome-Manggarai section costing approximately Rp 11.5 trillion. The subsequent extension to Dukuh Atas, spanning about 2 kilometers, is estimated to require an additional Rp 2.7 trillion. The provincial government has already allocated Rp 611 billion for this phase in the 2026 budget, with completion targeted for 2028.
