Luis de la Fuente: 'Cucurella? I don't talk about clubs; for the national team, he's a sure value'

Spain's national team coach Luis de la Fuente has lauded defender Marc Cucurella, describing him as a "sure value" for the squad and asserting he is among the world's elite left-backs. De la Fuente's comments came amidst speculation linking Cucurella with a move to Real Madrid, a topic the coach firmly sidestepped.

"Cucurella... I don't talk about clubs. For the national team, Cucurella is a sure value. He is a convinced choice. He has been with us, and with me especially, since he was 17 years old. I know his potential and his ability to manage difficult moments. He is a sure value. For the national team, he is one of the best left-backs in the world," De la Fuente stated during a press conference.

The speculation surrounding Cucurella's future intensified following reports that Real Madrid might be close to signing him from Chelsea for a reported 60 million euros. However, De la Fuente insisted that such transfer rumors would not disrupt the team's focus or performance ahead of their World Cup debut.

"I know all the players very well and I know their commitment and professionalism. We have already experienced this in the Euros with other teammates and we experienced it with such naturalness that it does not cause any setbacks or uncomfortable situations. No one on the team would do anything that could harm the rest of the team. If it's good news for Cucurella or it arises for another teammate, we are happy," he added.
