Luis Jaramillo is Ecuador's New Ambassador to China

President Daniel Noboa has officially designated Luis Alberto Jaramillo Granja as Ecuador's new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the People's Republic of China. The diplomatic appointment was formalized through Executive Decree 473, signed on August 14, 2026, outlining the framework for his official mission in China.

Jaramillo brings a significant background in public service to his new role. He previously headed the National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae) and also held a temporary position as the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments, and Fisheries. His assignment to Beijing positions him at the forefront of one of Ecuador's strategic diplomatic representations on the Asian continent.

The official decree is grounded in constitutional articles concerning the conduct of foreign relations and the exclusive competencies of the Presidency. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito has been tasked with the execution and notification of this resolution, which takes immediate effect.

This appointment signifies Ecuador's commitment to bolstering its bilateral relationship with China. The new ambassador will be responsible for advancing the state's interests and will maintain close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito to achieve Ecuador's foreign policy objectives in Asia.
