Luka Modrić hopes to return to Madrid one day and help Real Madrid

Luka Modrić still thinks of Madrid as home, but he says his life in Milan has begun well. The Croatia captain gave Marca an emotional account of leaving Real Madrid, the club where he played from 2012 until his move to Milan last year.

“I always like hearing that you miss me. I miss Madrid too, the city, the club and everything else. But I can say that I feel good and happy here in Milan. They welcomed me with open arms from the first day, and I am very satisfied,” Modrić said. He added that remaining in Milan for a second consecutive year showed how comfortable he had become there.

The move was difficult for his family, he said, particularly his children. His eldest son was two when the family arrived in Madrid and spent most of his childhood there. Now 16, he still asks when they are going home, meaning Madrid.
