Lundgaard ends Palou's pole streak at Mid-Ohio; champ to start eighth

Christian Lundgaard of Arrow McLaren claimed pole position at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, breaking Alex Palou's dominant streak of five consecutive qualifying first places. Lundgaard set the fastest lap with a time of 1:04.839, narrowly edging out his teammate Pato O'Ward, who qualified second with 1:04.864.

Alex Palou, the current IndyCar championship leader, faced a challenging qualifying session. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver secured the eighth-fastest time in the second round, failing to advance to the final six qualifiers for the second time this season. This result means Palou will start from the eighth position in Sunday's race.

Despite the setback in qualifying, Palou remains in a strong position in the overall championship standings. He leads with 374 points after ten races, holding a significant 60-point advantage over David Malukas and a 61-point lead over Kyle Kirkwood. Palou has been victorious in four races so far this season.

Will Power of Andretti Global qualified third, setting a time of 1:04.877. The grid for the Mid-Ohio race will see Lundgaard and O'Ward on the front row, with Power starting third, while Palou aims to overcome his qualifying disadvantage from eighth place.
