Lütfü Savaş's Lawyer Appointed to CHP Ankara Provincial Board Amid Controversy

Appointments to new provincial boards within the Republican People's Party (CHP) continue to generate debate following the dismissal of several provincial chairs. A notable appointment to the CHP Ankara Provincial Board has drawn particular attention: Onur Yusuf Üreğen, the lawyer representing Lütfü Savaş, has been named a board member.

Üreğen's past statements have fueled the controversy. During a hearing concerning the annulment of the 38th congress, he described the CHP leadership's actions as "organized crime activity." Furthermore, photographs of Üreğen with alleged crime boss Sedat Peker previously resurfaced, prompting CHP Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir to claim that Üreğen had attempted to remove the images from the internet.

Adding to the contentious appointments, Koray Akkuş was named the new CHP Provincial Chair in Çanakkale, replacing Levent Gürbüz. Akkuş had previously resigned from the CHP after not being nominated as a candidate in local elections, subsequently joining the İYİ Party and contributing to his former party's electoral defeat in the region.
