These talks occurred amid intensifying U.S. consultations with Iran, according to information from the French president's circle. A diplomatic source indicated that France is actively pursuing a diplomatic and negotiated resolution. The primary objective is the full and toll-free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, followed by a ceasefire and subsequent negotiations on other aspects, including Iran's nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and regional stability.

However, both sides remain cautious about the prospects of ending the conflict. U.S. President Trump described a potential deal as "approaching" and assessed the chances of a "good" agreement or a resumption of conflict as "50-50."
