Madam Kwan's sells 245,362 nasi bojari dishes, earns Malaysia Book of Records

Madam Kwan's has achieved a significant milestone, earning a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for selling an impressive 245,362 servings of its signature nasi bojari dish within a single year.

This achievement highlights the dish's enduring popularity since its introduction in 1999. Nasi bojari, inspired by royal recipes, is a distinctive offering that includes fragrant three-colored rice accompanied by fried chicken, prawn, beef rendang, and a boiled egg. Datin Maureen Ooi, CEO of Madam Kwan's, stated that this recognition validates nasi bojari as a favorite among Malaysians across generations.

This special dish is inspired by royal recipes, featuring fragrant three-colored rice with fried chicken, prawn, beef rendang, and a boiled egg.

Interestingly, nasi bojari was not initially intended to be a core menu item when founder Kwan Swee Lian opened Madam Kwan's about 30 years ago. She reportedly felt the dish, particularly the chicken preparation, was not yet perfect. However, her decision to refine and eventually feature it proved to be a strategic success, transforming it into an iconic and beloved offering.

It also became one of Madam Kwan's most recognized creations and continues to be loved by visitors of all generations.

In addition to the culinary record, Madam Kwan's also celebrated another achievement: all 17 of its branches across Peninsular Malaysia, along with its main kitchen, have obtained Halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). This certification underscores the brand's commitment to providing high-quality, Halal-compliant ingredients, rigorous handling procedures, and strict hygiene standards throughout its operations.

Ooi emphasized that these accomplishments reflect Madam Kwan's core mission: to uphold a legacy of trust and deliciousness in serving popular Malaysian dishes. This is achieved through authenticity, consistency, and an unwavering dedication to quality.
