Magnolia makes winning start as Hockey 5s tournament gets under way

Magnolia opened its Hockey 5s tournament campaign with two victories over Paragon at the Woodbrook Youth Facility on Wednesday.

In the Under-21 Women’s match, Paragon took the lead through Jedayah Kistow in the 10th minute. Robyn Dash equalised a minute later, and Renallia Constantine converted a penalty corner in the 13th minute to complete Magnolia’s comeback.

Magnolia also won the Open Women’s encounter 2-1. Brianna Govia scored in the first minute and Samantha Olton added a second in the fourth. Kistow pulled one back for Paragon in the 14th minute.

Prosport Red produced the night’s largest score, beating Malvern 7-0 and 4-0 in two Under-17 men’s meetings. Adam Chung scored four times in the first game and added another in the second. Fatima beat Prosport White 2-0 before winning another Under-17 Boys’ match 4-3.

In the Open Men’s division, TTPS defeated QPCC 1 2-0, while Fatima drew 1-1 with Notre Dame. TTDF edged QPCC 2 by 4-3, and Paragon ended the evening with a 3-0 victory over Malvern.
