Magong Summer Open-Air Film Festival kicks off with four nights of screenings

The Magong Summer Open-Air Film Festival commenced on August 27 at the Penghu International Plaza, offering a four-night cinematic experience to residents and visitors as the summer vacation draws to a close. The event, rescheduled from its original August 20 date due to weather concerns, aims to provide entertainment and a festive atmosphere.

This year's lineup features a diverse range of films, including animated features like 'The Addams Family,' 'The Bad Guys,' 'Sيكا, the Deer: Beyond the Aurora,' and 'Toy Story 4.' The opening ceremony was attended by Magong Mayor Huang Chien-chung, City Council Speaker Ou Yin-hua, and Penghu County Councilor Chuang Kuang-ta, among other officials, who joined the public in enjoying the festivities.

Attendees were treated to special giveaways, including limited-edition 'White Rotten Cat - Swag' fans distributed before each screening, along with complimentary popcorn and drinks. Each screening also included a quiz with prizes, such as picnic mats. Additionally, the International Plaza is hosting an exhibition of 16 large inflatable figures daily from 4 PM to 10 PM, with adjustments made based on wind and weather conditions.

Mayor Huang Chien-chung expressed gratitude for the support of the Magong Citizens' Representative Assembly for the film festival. He announced that in addition to the four screenings at the International Plaza, two more films, 'Jurassic World: Dominion' and 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,' will be shown on September 4 and 5 in Suo Gang, coinciding with the '2026 Magong Marine Culture and Fishing Festival.' This expansion broadens the film selection to include action-adventure genres, encouraging residents to bring their own picnic mats and enjoy the outdoor cinema.
