MAHA 2026 Preparations Reach 80 Percent, Focus on Modernizing Agriculture

Preparations for the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) 2026, to be held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), have reached approximately 80 percent completion. Minister of Agriculture Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu stated that infrastructure work is in its final stages, with exhibitor setup expected to finalize by August 27, a day before the event officially opens.

This year's MAHA is anticipated to draw over four million visitors, partly due to its concurrent timing with the National Day celebrations on August 31. The event will feature a National Day eve celebration including drone and fireworks displays. The organizers aim to host 2,000 exhibitors, projecting RM58 million in cash sales and RM8 billion in potential investments. These targets are considered achievable, especially given that the "Road to MAHA" initiative has already secured RM2 billion in potential investments.

A significant focus of MAHA 2026 is the modernization of the agricultural sector, aligning with the theme "Value Creation for Food Security." The ministry aims to transition traditional farming practices towards modern methods. This includes a strong emphasis on automation and modern agricultural technologies, with specific programs designed to attract approximately 800,000 young visitors.

The ministry believes these initiatives will appeal to youth who have recently graduated from TVET programs or universities and are looking for new opportunities in the evolving field of modern agriculture. By showcasing automation and innovation, MAHA 2026 seeks to highlight the new career paths available in the contemporary agricultural landscape.
