Maharashtra Principal Booked Over Alleged Pakistani Song at School Event; Claims Music Was from Turkish Series

A principal and two teachers at Kids World English School in Maharashtra's Jalna district have been booked by police following allegations that students performed to a Pakistani song during an annual gathering. The case was registered by Partur police on Thursday, invoking provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) that address acts endangering India's sovereignty, unity, and integrity, promoting enmity between groups, spreading misinformation affecting national integration, and circulating false information likely to cause public alarm.

The controversy originated from social media posts circulating claims about the school's annual function held in March 2025. These posts alleged that students danced to a Pakistani song and that a photograph of Pakistani extremist Mumtaz Qadri was displayed during the performance. The allegations quickly drew political attention, with local BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar demanding action against the school management and the cancellation of its recognition.

However, the school administration has strongly refuted these accusations. Principal Wazhiyoddin Siddiqui stated that the music used was not Pakistani but was sourced from the popular Turkish television series "Ertugrul Ghazi." He further explained that the image shown during the performance was of an actor from the same series, and that some individuals tampered with the visuals to circulate misleading content on social media. Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to verify the facts related to the performance, music, and images displayed.
