Maikel García calls LVBP 'a mess' after pyrotechnics injure teammate in finals

Venezuelan baseball star Maikel García has publicly criticized the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), labeling it a disorganized and undisciplined tournament. The infielder voiced his concerns during a live social media broadcast, demanding professional treatment for athletes.

García recounted a specific incident from the 2023-2024 season's final series between the Tiburones de La Guaira and Leones del Caracas. He described how the "irresponsible use of pyrotechnics" in the dugout led to a teammate's injury. "Baseball is a job, not a joke. The LVBP is a mess. In the LVBP, they throw firecrackers inside the dugout... We were playing the final against Caracas and because of the messing around with firecrackers, they burned Ehire Adrianza on the ear. Imagine how disorganized that league is," García stated.

Following this experience, García stressed the urgent need for strict safety regulations within team dugouts to protect players' well-being. He argued that league directors must eliminate any conduct that compromises the health of professionals during games. García's remarks echo criticisms from some fans regarding the organizational quality of local baseball, emphasizing that club directors and the league's governing board must guarantee a safe working environment that meets high-performance sports standards.
