Major Fire at Vietnamese Garment Factory, Over 200 Workers Evacuated Safely

A significant fire erupted at the An Long Garment Company in An Long commune, Dong Thap province, on July 22, causing alarm among workers and residents. Fortunately, the swift evacuation of more than 200 employees prevented any casualties.

The fire reportedly began in the production workshop around 9:30 AM. Initial efforts by the factory's internal fire brigade and workers to contain the flames were overwhelmed by the rapid spread of the fire. The company subsequently issued an urgent call for assistance to the provincial Fire Prevention and Fighting, and Rescue Police.

Responding to the emergency, the provincial Fire Prevention and Fighting, and Rescue Police dispatched personnel and specialized equipment to the scene. They collaborated with local government officials and emergency responders from the neighboring communes of Tan Thanh and Phu Tho to extinguish the fire, prevent its spread, and maintain order in the affected area. By early afternoon, the large fire was brought under control, and the risk of it spreading to surrounding areas was eliminated.

As of the afternoon, authorities and company staff were engaged in clearing operations and assessing the damage. Workers also assisted in moving goods from the warehouse to minimize losses. While the fire caused no human injuries, the extent of the property damage is still being calculated and evaluated by the relevant units in coordination with the company. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Dong Thap Provincial Police.
