Major fire near Šibenik fought by four water bombers and two Air Tractors

A major wildfire broke out Friday afternoon near Perković, close to Šibenik, prompting a large firefighting response on the ground and from the air.

According to the Šibenik public fire brigade, four Canadair water bombers and two Air Tractors are fighting the flames. Thick smoke is visible from a broad area around the fire.

People travelling on the motorway told 24sata that visibility remained good and traffic could move normally when they passed. One witness warned that conditions could change if the fire continues to spread and winds carry smoke toward the motorway.

Fire crews continue to battle the blaze, while the possibility of further fire and smoke spread remains a concern because of the wind.
