Major Weather Change Coming to Croatia: Temperatures to Drop After Heatwave

After a prolonged period of intense heat, Croatia is bracing for a significant shift in weather patterns as high temperatures are expected to subside early next week. The current heatwave, which has gripped the country, is forecast to break with the arrival of a cold front.

Beginning Monday, August 17, the weather is predicted to turn. Increased cloud cover is expected in the latter part of the day, accompanied by rain and localized thunderstorms. This change will be most pronounced in the Gorski Kotar and central regions, as well as along the northern Adriatic coast.

By Tuesday morning, August 18, models indicate a substantial decrease in temperatures, offering much-needed relief from the extreme heat. This cooling trend is anticipated to bring more comfortable conditions across the country after days of scorching weather.

Leading up to this change, Friday will remain sunny and hot, with light winds. The Adriatic coast will experience moderate to strong bura winds, potentially reaching storm force in the north early on. Saturday and Sunday will continue the heatwave, with daytime temperatures ranging from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius inland and a gradual decrease expected along the coast. However, the real meteorological shift is slated for Monday evening and into Tuesday.
