Makinde, Fayemi, Oyinlola visit Obasanjo to discuss national issues ahead of election

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde held a strategic meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The governor was accompanied by former Osun State governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi.

Makinde shared details of the visit on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, posting photographs of the engagement. He stated that the discussions centered on critical national issues in anticipation of the forthcoming general election. "Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election," Makinde wrote.

The meeting occurs amidst a period of heightened political consultations and realignments as various political leaders across party lines engage in strategic discussions about Nigeria's future, particularly in the lead-up to the 2027 general election.
